Life Sciences & Regulated Manufacturing · 5 pages

Traceability software by industry for life sciences and regulated manufacturing

Lots, expiry dates, labels, and recall readiness matter most in regulated work. KnarrTek software supports documentation for these industries. It does not certify compliance, and compliance responsibility remains with the customer.

Precision & Custom Fabrication · 7 pages

Traceability software by industry for precision and custom fabrication

Job shops and fabricators run many jobs across many work centers, and the material behind each job has to stay tied to it. These seven pages cover the trades where that matters most.

General Manufacturing Operations · 2 pages

Traceability software by industry for general manufacturing operations

Not every plant fits a single industry label. These two pages describe how KnarrTek works for plants defined by how they run rather than what they make.

On the Floor

What traceability software by industry looks like at the scanner

In every industry, the work starts with a scan. A worker scans a bin, a job traveler, or a pallet, and the record updates as the work happens. These two examples show that on a warehouse shelf and on a custom assembly line.

Traceability software by industry: warehouse worker using a handheld barcode scanner to scan inventory on an industrial shelving unit, with an item-scanned confirmation showing part number, quantity, and location
Traceability software by industry: assembly worker scanning the barcode on a printed job traveler with a handheld scanner, next to a tablet showing a make-to-order job and its assembly steps

Warehouse counts and put-away are covered on the industrial distribution page. Custom jobs, travelers, and assembly steps are covered on the make-to-order manufacturing page. The screens in these images are illustrations, not live data.

One Platform

How one platform delivers traceability software by industry for all 24 pages

The 24 industry pages are not 24 different products, and this traceability software by industry guide shows how they connect. KnarrTek uses the same data capture and integration software across all of them, then sets it up around the records each industry keeps.

Capture

BellHawk captures the data.

BellHawk records receipts, moves, jobs, quality checks, and shipments through barcode, RFID, and scale readings as the work happens.

Connect

MilramX connects it.

MilramX links that data to your ERP, accounting, and shipping systems and raises alerts when something needs attention.

Fit

Setup follows your industry.

Lot expiry, heat numbers, serial numbers, batches, and unit conversions are configured around your records instead of forcing one generic workflow.

What Changes by Industry

Traceability software by industry: the same scan, a different record

What a scan means depends on the work. A pharmaceutical lot needs an expiry date and a label. A steel coil needs a heat number. A custom job needs its materials and its status. The industry pages explain these differences in detail.

Traceability software by industry diagram: one barcode or RFID scan feeds different records in each group, such as serials and certifications, lots and labels, jobs and yield, batches and ingredients, orders and weights, and shift status

KnarrTek software supports documentation for regulated industries. It does not certify compliance, and compliance responsibility remains with the customer.

Industries FAQ

Common questions about traceability software by industry

Here is what visitors ask most before picking an industry page. See also the industrial tracking software FAQs.

What is traceability software by industry?

It is tracking software set up around the records a particular industry keeps. A drug maker needs lots, expiry dates, and serialization support. A steel processor needs heat numbers and certifications. KnarrTek uses the same barcode, RFID, and scale data capture across all of them and configures it for each industry's workflow.

How many industries does KnarrTek serve?

This traceability software by industry guide links to 24 industry pages in six groups: aerospace, automotive and defense; life sciences and regulated manufacturing; precision and custom fabrication; process and consumer goods; distribution and materials handling; and general manufacturing operations. If your business is not listed, contact us and we will tell you whether the software fits.

How do I choose the right page in this traceability software by industry guide?

Start with the group that sounds most like your business, then open the page closest to what you make or handle. If your plant spans several industries, start with your biggest tracking problem instead, such as lot records, job status, or inventory accuracy, and use the table on this page to find the matching capability page.

What if my business fits more than one industry?

Many plants do. A food packaging plant may also run make-to-order jobs, and a fabrication shop may supply defense customers. Read each page that applies. The traceability software by industry is the same core product, so you do not have to pick one industry. We configure it around the records your plant actually keeps.

Does KnarrTek offer traceability software by industry for regulated manufacturers?

Yes. The life sciences and regulated pages cover pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, laboratory, and chemical operations, and the food, cosmetics, and defense pages cover their own record requirements. KnarrTek software supports documentation. It does not certify compliance, and compliance responsibility remains with the customer.

Which pages cover aerospace, automotive, and defense?

The aerospace, automotive, and defense pages are grouped together near the top of this page. They cover serialized parts, controlled materials, part genealogy, quality records, labels, and shipments, from receiving through delivery to OEMs, tier suppliers, and defense programs.

Which pages cover fabrication shops and job-driven manufacturers?

The precision and custom fabrication group covers electromechanical assembly, metal fabrication, engineering contractors, construction products, steel processing, plastic molding, and jewelry. The make-to-order page in the general manufacturing group covers custom and job-driven work in any trade.

Which pages cover food, cosmetics, textile, and recycling?

The process and consumer goods group covers these four. Food and cosmetics pages focus on ingredients, batches, labels, and recall readiness. The textile page focuses on work-in-process and roll conversion, and the recycling page covers materials, grades, processing steps, and shipments.

Does KnarrTek serve distributors and warehouses?

Yes. The industrial distribution page covers receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping. The weigh scale and roll converting pages cover operations where weights, lengths, and unit conversion drive the inventory record. Warehouse and inventory tracking is also covered on the KnarrTek inventory and asset tracking capability page.

Is the software different for each industry?

The core software is the same across industries. BellHawk captures data by barcode, RFID, and scale, and MilramX connects it to ERP and other business systems. What changes by industry is the setup: which fields are tracked, which labels print, which checks run, and which records are kept for each lot, job, or shipment.

Does KnarrTek use barcodes or RFID?

Both are available, and many customers use barcodes alone. Barcodes are the usual starting point for lots, containers, and locations. RFID helps where items are hard to scan one at a time. The white paper on barcodes versus RFID for work-in-process tracking, linked on this page, explains how to compare them.

Can KnarrTek connect to my ERP or accounting system?

KnarrTek supports integration with ERP and accounting systems through MilramX, so inventory, production, and shipment data can move without duplicate entry. How that works depends on your system and which data you want to exchange. We scope each connection with you before any work begins.

Is KnarrTek cloud-based or on-premise?

Both options exist. BellHawk Online is the cloud version. WIPtracker is the on-premise version for manufacturing execution and warehouse management. SmartOps24x7 adds rules and alerts across a facility. The KnarrTek package comparison page shows the differences, and we can help you choose.

Does this traceability software by industry work for small plants?

Plant size matters less than the records you need to keep. Tell us how many sites, users, and items you track and which problems you want solved, and we will say plainly whether KnarrTek is a good fit. We would rather tell you it is not than sell you something that does not fit.

Can KnarrTek track custom orders and jobs?

Yes. The make-to-order and job tracking pages cover custom orders, materials, labor, and work-in-process for job-driven manufacturers. Metal fabrication, construction products, and engineering contractors use the same approach: each job carries its own materials, status, and delivery record.

Does KnarrTek certify FDA, FSMA, DSCSA, or CMMC compliance?

No. KnarrTek software supports documentation, such as lot history, labels, and audit records, that helps you show how your plant operates. It does not certify compliance with any regulation, and compliance responsibility remains with the customer. Talk to your quality or compliance team about what your auditors require.

What if my industry is not listed?

If your industry is not among the pages of traceability software by industry above, contact us and describe what you make or handle, how it moves through your plant, and what you need to track. Many plants fit an existing page closely enough to start with it. If the closest match is a poor fit, we will say so and suggest what else might help.

How long does it take to get started?

Getting started with traceability software by industry depends on scope. A single site tracking a few processes is a smaller project than several sites connected to an ERP. We scope the work together, agree on what to track first, and then expand step by step. Call or email and we will give you a realistic picture for your plant.

Can I try BellHawk before I buy?

KnarrTek has a BellHawk trial page. Contact us to ask what the trial includes and whether it suits your industry. A short conversation about your workflow first usually makes the trial more useful, because we can point you to the features that matter for your plant.

What is the difference between inventory tracking and materials traceability?

Inventory tracking tells you how much of an item is on hand and where. Materials traceability tells you the history of a specific lot or serial number: where it came from, what it went into, and where it shipped. Many industries need both. The first white paper linked on this page explains the difference.
